Product description

So, You have purchased a NFA Class III firearm online. That's Awesome! You are entering a whole new world of firearm ownership.  But what do you do now?

Firearms can be shipped a variety of different ways, but they all must be shipped to a licensed firearm dealer.  That is where Openrange comes in.  All NFA items require the your receiving dealer be both a FFL and a SOT, which Openrange is.

Purchasing your firearm and selecting where it is shipped, are the similarities with regular transfers end.

Let your seller know you would like to have your firearm transferred to Openrange.  Our address is 6401 Cross Keys Blvd, Crestwood, KY 40014.  Before they can ship your firearm, they will need to verify our Federal Firearms License and Special Occupational Tax Stamp.

That's where you can help out.  Email [email protected] the following info:

  • Customer name (first, middle, and last)
  • Phone number
  • Email
  • Make and model of firearm
  • Where the firearm was purchased

You can then provide your firearm seller Joy's email, so we can exchange the necessary information.

Openrange will then confirm contact with your shipper.  Processing of your NFA item, may take 2-4 weeks for ATF approval and shipping.

Once your item arrives at Openrange, we can begin to prepare your Form 4 paperwork.  The Form 4 is the required documentation that must be provided to ATF to approve your tax stamp and is required for you to take possession of your purchase.  Unfortunately, there is no way to start this paperwork until your item arrives.  We will reach out to you for any required information that may be needed to complete the paperwork.

While you are waiting, you can go ahead and get the following:

  • 2 fingerprint cards (these can be obtained at Openrange if needed)
  • 2 passport photos
  • Each person on the paperwork will need to be fingerprinted and photographed

You will be notified when your paperwork is ready to sign.  At that time you will also need to pay $215 for the ATF tax stamp and shipping of your forms.

Openrange will mail your paperwork promptly, but processing can take some time.  Turn around times on tax stamps can be in excess for 1 year.  During this time Openrange will keep your item comfortable in our safe.

When your tax stamp arrives at Openrange, you can come in to pick up your new firearm.  Bring a your current/valid Kenutcky Drivers License and Kentucky CCDW permit (if you have one). While we copy your information, you can finalize your ATF Form 4473 to complete the transfer.

It sounds like a lot, but once completed, it's well worth the wait.

Once you have your firearm, thinking about trying it out on the range.  We offer a special 6-Pack of Pistol Time, that is savings of $78 and is only available when your are purchasing or transferring a firearm.

* - A transfer fee is required per serialized item that is being transferred.

When checking out, in the comments section put the make and model of the firearm(s) being transferred.
